Antti Parviainen has been coaching the Finnish national team in 10 years. He announced his resignation after the World Championship in Vänersborg. The Swedish news site ttela.se and bandy site bandypuls.se reports that Ari Holopainen will be the new head coach. In his bandy career Ari Holpainen was a great scorer with a very hard shot.

– The contract has not been signed yet, but we are verbally agreed, says Ari Holopainen.

Holopainen is the coach for the Swedish team IFK Vänersborg in Elitserien so he will combine the two jobs for the Finnish national team and IFK Vänersborg.

The solution is rather common in the international bandy. Michael Carlsson will do the same when he is coach for Västerås SK and the Swedish national team in the coming season. Michail Juriev was coach for SKA Neftyanik in parallel with the Russian national team earlier.

The World Championships in 2020 and 2021 will be held in Russia, first in Irkutsk and then in Syktyvkar.
