The Federation of International Bandy is now planning for a major premiere for indoor bandy in Finland. The project with an indoor arena in Lappeenranta is rolling on and when the arena is ready, an international inauguration is planned with next year’s 4-nation tournament with participation from Russia, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The plan is for the tournament to be played in Lappeenranta January 20-22, 2023. It is of course gratifying for Finnish bandy in particular but also for the entire international bandy family.
If bandy can then get a similar boost in Finland as in Sweden and Russia in terms of the opportunities to play bandy indoors, it will also affect the strength and quality of Finnish bandy with the greatest certainty. This has happened in both Sweden and Russia.
WORLD CUP IN KRASNOYARSK 2022
The World Cup tournament for club teams has had a break since 2019 when the tournament was last played in Sandviken with Bollnäs GIF as champion. Now, however, it is clear that the next World Cup tournament will be played in Russian Krasnoyarsk Decmber 15-18, 2022.
WORLD CUP FOR OLD-BOYS IN MARCH
It will be a World Cup tournament for oldboys this season. The tournament will be held in Arkhangelsk, Russia March 24-26. It will be an experience for a large number of legendary players to re-measure the strength of the ice.
