The first edition of “Mästarcupen” (the Masters Cup) was played in Västerås last weekend. In the tournament, the four teams that played semi finals in the Swedish Elitserien last spring participated. Edsbyn is Swedish Champion after the final victory over Villa Lidköping with 5-4.
Both teams also made it to this weekend’s tournament final. But now Villa Lidköping got revenge and won the first title in “Mästarcupen”. Villa Lidköping won 3-2 after an even and exciting match where the half-time score was 1-1. There is probably no doubt that these two teams will belong to the absolute top in this winter’s Elitserien.

Villa Lidköping made it to the final with a big win over AIK, Solna in the semi final. The victory numbers were a whopping 15-3! In the second semi-final, Edsbyn beat Västerås with 9-7. In the match for third prize, AIK beat Västerås with 7-4.
The upcoming tournaments for the elite teams in Sweden are Svenska Cupen (the Swedish Cup) for both women and men. The women’s tournament starts on September 17 and the men’s on September 30.
