Villa Lidköping and Västerås SK meet in both of the Swedish Championship finals this coming weekend at the Studenternas arena in Uppsala. The clubs’ women’s and men’s teams have qualified for the finals.
THE MEN’S FINAL
Villa Lidköping made it to the final by defeating Sirius in the quarter-finals in three straight games 7-2, 7-3 and 6-3. In the semi-finals, Villa Lidköping faced Bollnäs GIF and played 12-4, 6-5, 4-5 and 7-4 in the forth game.
In the second semi-final, Västerås SK defeated the reigning Swedish champions Edsbyn 3-2 in matches. Västerås won at home 5-1 and 4-3, while Edsbyn won both games at home with 4-3. The fifth and decisive match was played in Västerås and VSK won 5-3.
THE WOMEN’S FINAL
The women’s final is thus also played between Villa Lidköping and Västerås SK. In the quarter-finals, Villa Lidköping won against KS Bandy with 9-3 and 12-1. Västerås beat Uppsala BoIS 10-1 and 10-0 in their quarter-final. In their semi-final, Villa won against Skirö AIK with 5-2 and 9-1, while Västerås SK knocked out AIK Solna with 4-2 and 2-1.
THE FINALS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, MARCH 18 AND 19
The finals are played at Studenternas IP in Uppsala. The women’s final will be played on Friday, March 19, at 19.00 (GMT+1) and the men’s final will be played on Saturday, March 18 at 17.00 (GMT+1).
