As part of FIB governance reform and in line with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) principles, FIB introduced Athletes’ representation at the FIB Executive Committee (EC) by the amendment of the FIB Statutes last year. Ideally Athletes shall elect their representatives, however since no FIB World Championships was held this year, it was not possible to organise the election as planned.
In order to still achieve our objective, coordinated with Emma Terho, IOC Athletes Commission Chair & Executive Board member, the FIB EC decided at its recent meeting to create an interim FIB Athletes Committee (AC) until Athletes elect the members and its Chair.
The AC composition shall be:
- 5 members, 1 member per country
- members shall be min. 18 years of age
- min. 2 members from both genders
- member shall be active Athletes (participated in FIB sanctioned events in the last 4 years, i.e. from 2020/2021)
- members must never have received any sanction in relation of World Anti-Doping Code
- the Chair shall be elected from the AC by the AC members
For the above reasons, we kindly invite FIB National Member Associations to nominate candidates
(maximum 1 male and 1 female) from your own Association to the FIB Athletes Committee according to the above eligibility criteria.
To ensure the widest support for your candidate, please consult your own Athletes Committee if exists, or your Athletes, Team Captains, etc. for nomination.
Please send your nomination or further questions to FIB General Secretary Attila Adamfi (attila.adamfi@worldbandy.com), copy to Ms. Reka Foldesi (reka.foldesi@worldbandy.com) latest by 31 May 2024.
The FIB EC will appoint the members of the FIB Athletes Committee on 7 June 2024. The members of the AC will be submitted to the FIB Congress for ratification on 8 June 2024. The new Athletes Committee shall elect its Chair by 15 July 2024 to join the FIB EC.
