The 1998 Bandy World Cup was played in Ljusdal on October 22-25 and was won by the Swedish club Falu BS, after beating Västerås SK 2-1 in the final match.

Both Falun and Ljusdal won their groups in the Round Robin stage. Falun beat Hammarby in quarter final 6-2 and Bollnäs 5-3 in the semifinal. Västerås won against two Russian teams in quarter final and semifinal. First Yenisei in a penalty shootout after the quarterfinal game had ended 1-1 and then a victory against Vodnik 4-1 in the semifinal.

The final game between Falun and Västerås was a tight game and Falun became new World Cup champion after the 2-1 victory.
