2020 FIB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN

The World Championship 2020 for women was held in Oslo, the capital of Norway. It became a tournament that was very visible because many activities were held in central Oslo with a large audience. Sweden defended it’s gold from the last tournament and became world champion again. Russia won the silver medals.

Sweden won the final of the Women’s World Championship in Oslo Saturday, February 22. Sweden won the final game 3 goals to 1 after 1-0 at halftime. Sweden has won nine of the ten championships that have been played since its inception in 2004.  Russia won the gold in 2014.

Russia now had to settle for the silver medal in this tournament. Norway took the bronze by a 6-1 victory against Finland in the match for the third prize.

On Tuesday evening the opening ceremony was performed and after that the Mayor of Oslo had invited many guests to a reception in Oslo City Hall. The Championship ends with a Banquette for participants and organizers at Thon Hotel Storo. (Photo: Frank Nordseth)
