FIB anti-doping ambitions:
- FIB is keen to be proactive rather than reactive.
- FIB teach players and leaders what rules apply, to avoid mistakes. Such mistakes can be a risk via dietary supplements, adequate medication without dispensation, or if you do not follow a doping control’s instructions when checking.
- FIB wants to make it easier for players, leaders and others to do the right thing.
- FIB website is a tool to stimulate and help national federations and clubs to take their part in the responsibility for a doping-free bandy and spread the message to players and leaders.Â
- FIB’s anti-doping web pages are updated continuously when information is changed or new material is added.
FIB supports the global fight against doping and has adopted the World Anti-Doping Code, governed by WADA and supported by the UNESCO International Convention. It is vital that all of you involved in bandy, at all levels – players, coaches, leaders, medical personnel, officials, staff and volunteers etc. – are familiar with the current anti-doping rules and your roles and responsibilities under these rules.

EDUCATION TO DEVELOP WORK AGAINST ANTI-DOPING!
Tommy Forsgren, Anti-Doping Sweden
During the World Championship in Sweden 2023, FIB conducted a first education in anti-doping work. The education was conducted as a lecture by Tommy Forsgren from Anti-Doping Sweden. Tommy has extensive experience in anti-doping work.
How does he think the work has developed over the decades?
-In the 1970s, the work against doping consisted only of controls that were carried out in different ways in different countries and in different sports. Today, our focus is much more focused on health, rights, information and education, says Tommy.
– There are still big differences between how far anti-doping work has developed. But thanks to the World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA, the work is now coordinated and the same rules apply in all countries and sports.
Some countries have developed the work more than others. In Sweden, for example, it will be mandatory for athletes and leaders to attend Anti-doping-education in order to be allowed to compete.
There are many people who say that the dopers and their leaders are constantly developing new ways to dope and are always one step ahead of the anti-doping controllers, what do you say about that?
-A crime cannot of course be provided until it is invented. But today, deliberate cheating and advanced doping are vanishingly small. Today, mistakes and lack of knowledge clearly dominates. That is why it is so important that all international sports federations, national sports associations and local sports clubs invest in education in this area, concludes Tommy Forsgren.
