These World Championships is characterized by development and innovation, not least on the referee side. An example was given in the first game Ukraine-Canada in Group B Pool A when the team that led the game was a mixture of both nationalities and gender.
Headreferee Dmitri Anikin from Russia worked with Hanna Hansson and Hannah Pettersson from Sweden. We will see several examples of this during the tournament, not least in Group B where the female referees participate.
The other female referees in the tournament are Sang Hong from China and Kristina Prokofyeva from Russia.
