Västerås SK became cup champions in 1997 in the tournament that was played 23-26 October. In the final, the team defeated the home team Ljusdal with 4-1. Västerås who won the group while Ljusdal was second in theirs. In the quarterfinals, Västerås won against Hammarby with a whopping 8-1 and in the semifinals the team beat Edsbyn with 3-1. Ljusdal made it to the final by defeating Motala on penalties and in the semi-finals the team won against Sandviken with 2-1. The final was a fairly easy victory for Västerås who
won 4-1.
