World Cup for men was played for the second time in Göransson Arena in Sandviken, Sweden between 14 and 17 October. New World Cup champion was Dynamo Kazan, Russia, who in the final defeated last year winner Hammarby IF, Sweden 3-1.

Sandviken was awarded the organizership for the World Cup in 2009 and 2010. Through a collaboration between the International Bandy Federation (FIB), Ljusdal and Sandviken, a solution has been found. The World Cup was planned to be played in Sandviken in 2009 and 2010 until Ljusdal has its indoor arena and can once again host the cup. 

The quarter-finals on 16 October as well as the semi-finals and final on 17 October were broadcast on television on Swedish TV10.


Dynamo Kazan was impressive in the Round Robin and won all three games against Hammarby 3-1, Stabæk 12-2 and Sirius 6-1. The Russian team continued in the plays offs and defeated Baikal Energy 6-1 in the quarter final and also won in the semi final against Sandvikens AIK 7-4.

Hammarby and Kazan played both in Group A. In the other to games for Hammarby in the Round Robin it was victories against Sirius 2-1 and Stabæk 8-2. Hammarby met Villa Lidköping in the quarter final and won 7-2 and in the semi final Hammarby defeated Kuzbass 4-3.
