In March, the International Bandy Federation (FIB) made the decision to award Sweden the 2025 Bandy World Championship for women and men. An agreement has already been signed between the Swedish Bandy Federation and Villa Lidköping BK regarding arranging the World Championship together. The tournament will be played on March 25-30, 2025

In addition to the agreement with Villa Lidköping BK, a cooperation agreement has been signed between the Swedish Bandy Federation and Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle, as well as an arena agreement with Lidköping Municipality. Ingrid Amrén, Chairman of the Swedish Bandy Federation, expresses her joy over the decision:
-It is very gratifying that we now have an agreement with Lidköping Municipality and Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle. We know that the event is in safe hands and together we look forward to welcoming players and spectators. We are also extra happy to be able to celebrate the association’s 100th anniversary in connection with this.
– The question of being a co-organizer of the Bandy World Championship has been discussed several times in Villa Lidköping, but in the past, financial risks have prevented us from moving forward. Now, in close cooperation with the International Bandy Federation (IBF), the Swedish Bandy Federation (SBF) and Lidköping Municipality, we have finally been able to work out an agreement that is beneficial for all parties. Together, we look forward to creating a memorable Bandy World Championship in 2025. We warmly welcome you to Sparbanken Lidköping Arena on 25–30 March 2025,” says Per Alexanderson, Chairman of Villa Lidköping BK.
– We look forward to hosting the Bandy World Championship 2025 here in Lidköping. International events bring a lot of attention to Lidköping and benefit many of our local businesses both in business and associations. We also see it as an opportunity to continue to develop Lidköping as an event city and to create memorable experiences for everyone involved,” says Bertil Jonsson (M), Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board of Lidköping.
There are two other FIB World Championships that are decided for the coming season and they are also held in Sweden. It is World Championship Boys 17 and Boys 19. Both those tournament will be played in Göransson Arena in Sandviken during 17-19 January 2025.
